Engineered Foam Products
Managing complex manufacturing operations across multiple sites and industries with DELMIAWorks
Engineered Foam Products breaks into new markets and becomes the first manufacturer in Europe to use Dassault’s hosted cloud service for DELMIAWorks

About Engineered Foam Products
Moulded foam products for a more sustainable world
Northamptonshire-based Engineered Foam Products (EFP) celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2024. The company traditionally made expanded polystyrene and polypropylene products for the automotive industry. In recent years they have applied the same techniques into new sectors as they respond to changing market conditions.
Diversification
Market changes facilitated application of manufacturing processes into new industries.
Managed service
First manufacturer in Europe to take advantage of Dassault’s managed cloud-hosted service.
Achieving compliance standards
DELMIAWorks supports EFP with ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
"We’re now very big in the pharmaceutical industry making polystyrene packaging and cases for test tubes. You also see our boxes at all the major fish markets across the UK."
Engineered Foam Products
Same processes, different markets
Engineered Foam Products’ brand name made in automotive manufacturing, but market changes dictated diversification
Engineered Foam Products has “historically, always been a shape moulding business. We’ve always been very big in the automotive industry” says Head of IT, Eve Perry. “Changes in the market meant we had to apply the same manufacturing techniques to different markets. We’ve moved into construction, aerospace, packaging and horticulture for instance.”

Manufacturing Operations Management
Integration capabilities enables DELMIAWorks to manage manufacturing operations alongside SAP
Engineered Foam Products has been through many business changes. Acquisitions, mergers, and rebranding over its 50 year history, including ownership by a large FTSE100 company. That company mandated the use of SAP for financials and Microsoft Dynamics for CRM. EFP were able to integrate with SAP for financials and continue to manage their manufacturing operation through DELMIAWorks.

Compliance & Quality
EFP achieves an impressive list of compliance and quality standards across all their sites
EFP focuses on improving operational efficiency across the business, creating processes and management systems to support this goal. With support from DELMIAWorks, EFP has earned ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001 certifications. They also received ISO 50001 for energy management. EFP’s Spennymoor site has also met ISO TS16949 and its latest standard, IAFT 16949.

Managed hosting in the Cloud
Outsourcing first strategy extended to take advantage of DELMIAWorks managed cloud hosting
One important IT strategy at EFP is to reduce their internal footprint. They aim to outsource as many services as they can - including DELMIAWorks. Fully managed, the cloud hosting is used by many customers in the US already. However, EFP is the first DELMIAWorks customer in Europe to use Dassault's cloud-hosted service.

"My role is very much vendor management. All our IT systems are hosted and managed externally, including our ERP system, DELMIAWorks. That application is hosted through Dassault in their data centre. I believe we are the first business in Europe to use Dassault’s managed hosting service for DELMIAWorks."
