It has been nearly 12 months since Dassault Système bought IQMS. IQMS is a top provider of ERP software and real-time production monitoring for mid-sized manufacturers.
We have followed with interest as IQMS’ EnterpriseIQ and MES system joined Dassault’s 3DEXPERIENCE universe. This includes the rebranding of the manufacturing software suite as DELMIAWorks.
Next, we received more information about the integration of Dassault Systèmes’ SOLIDWORKS product.
This is Dassault’s computer-aided design and engineering tool.
It aims to create a ‘closed-loop’ manufacturing system. This system seeks to improve efficiency and visibility in manufacturing performance on the shop floor. It covers design, production scheduling, manufacturing, and real-time shop floor control.
SOLIDWORKS and DELMIAWorks possess a large, common customer base. 25% of SOLIDWORKS customers are manufacturers.
On the flip side, around 600 DELMIAWorks customers (60%) also use SOLIDWORKS in their operation.
Considering the specific needs of mid-market plastic injection moulding, extrusion, metal stamping, fabrication, cutting, assembly, packaging, and die-cast manufacturing, DELMIAWorks covers:
- Product design, prototyping and testing
- Bill of material (BOM) development
- Financials
- Sales orders
- Material requirements
- Inventory and warehouse management
- Purchasing
- Procurement
- Production scheduling
- Shop floor control
- Real-time production monitoring (MES System)
- Quality management and control
- Shipment and fulfilment, amongst others
Manufacturers using both systems are able to jump seamlessly between applications.
Documents and drawings produced in SOLIDWORKS can be linked to DELMIAWorks’ records, which mean operators effectively work from a single application with complete end-to-end visibility.

DELMIAWorks at 3DEXPERIENCE World
More details on this ever expanding design-to-manufacturing ecosystem will be available at the 3DEXPERIENCE World 2020 conference which takes place at the Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee from 9-12 February.
In previous years, IQMS ran their own User Conference (called Pinnacle). In 2002, this will be fully incorporated into 3DEXPERIENCE World.
They’ll be plenty of opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in the transformation which is taking place in the way we invent, design, produce and power experiences.
Experiences that are powering an ‘Industrial Renaissance’.
But more on that in future news articles.
On both Monday and Tuesday, attendees will able to see innovation keynotes focusing on 3DEXPERIENCE.WORK, SOLIDWORKS and DELMIAWorks. That is an addition to plenty of opportunities to connect with a huge range of partners and resellers.
Attendees will also be able to access a host of technical training and hands-on sessions in the form of lecture-style breakouts, hands-on workshops, and panel discussion sessions covering subjects such as mechanical design, manufacturing, simulation and visualisation.
All told, there will be 66 hours of DELMIAWorks targeted training at the event.
